My name is Breezy Brian Gregg
and I’m on a Quest to build a new economy of the future, a caring economy based on love and respect for everyone and our planet. I want to start now and here in The City of Edmonton also known by its ancient traditional name, Amiskwacîwâskahikan.
Loving and Respecting Everyone and The Planet
Please check out our Platform — Building a Caring Economy.
Let me know if you see a better way to talk about any and all the issues we face. As much as we can, we want to build a city where everyone feels safe and free, and a city where everyone has the opportunity to make the best of their own life.
In Amiskwacîwâskahikan we need an evidence based plan and we need that plan to come from a wide civic conversation. That is why I am asking everyone to talk and listen to each other. At the same time we have to talk about reality while keeping in mind the magic of new possibilities. I know it is a lot to ask when so many are facing their own struggle but to make things better we need more people to get talking and listening so we can understand what we agree is important.
Campaign is a war term. This is a Quest. Elections are not war. An election is a contest or a race. Democratic Politics is about speaking up for what we believe is right and good.
Breezy For Everyone
Of course we have to say too, what we see that is wrong, but that is not enough. We have to talk about what we can do to build a better life for everyone.
About me:
I am a retired music artist. Up until it became unsafe when the pandemic hit, I was busking most week days and performing at many open stage events in Edmonton Clubs. Recently I ran for Mayor and lost the race but gained so much more insight into civic politics. Now I have returned to the streets but not as a busker but as a concerned citizen determined to do things differently and lead our city in responding to the climate emergency by bringing us all together to build a caring economy.
I volunteer a lot for the NDP. I feel the NDP both Federally and Provincially best represent my political views. Please get in touch with me if you are interested in volunteering too.
An important concern for me is that we reform the way society gives and limits access to information and entertainment. I feel we can lower our cost of living and strengthen democracy by transitioning to a nonprofit public service that gives us free access to digital media content. This public service would be like a combination of YouTube, Google and Facebook, minus the advertising and the surveillance.
To read more about this proposed public service check out my quest blog post at this link:
Almost everyone I talk to thinks this is too big of an idea and could never happen. They feel that what is in place is too powerful and established for it to ever change. I try to explain that that is what they were telling Tommy Douglas 60 years ago when he was promoting Medicare. What I am promoting is big, but only a fraction of the cost of Medicare and like Medicare it should lower the cost of living overall.
Let’s create a digital public library to access content without being surveilled and exposed to advertising.

I will speak up for fair tax law and budgets that are smart and most importantly kind.
Budget decisions and the fairness of tax law are separate issues. Neoliberal (UCP) propaganda incorrectly connects the two into a story that justifies lowering taxes on the rich and cutting public services. As a person living on the land, Amiskwacîwâskahikan, the City of Edmonton, again, I will speak up for fair tax law and budgets that are smart and most importantly kind.
Kindness is love in action
